SAND Magazine


Established in 2016, SAND was solely an interview-based annual publication that introduced the processes and muses of artists and creatives around the world. It was initially conceptualised to promote appreciation of independent craft makers, artists and business owners.

Not much time has passed, yet we have observed a sharp progress in the awareness and knowledge among creatives and consumers. Greater focus has since been placed on public education around social and political issues that impact the world at large.

Today, SAND serves to explore what it means to be part of various cultures around the world through wide-ranging examinations of contemporary art. It discusses how art may be used as a tool to drive change. 

Through publication work, we interview contemporary artists of various worlds — visual art, film, music, fashion, design and other niche forms. The publication seeks to not only uncover the process of artists but also analyse belief systems and approaches beyond an individual's adopted art form. On top of interviews, more forms of writing such as opinion pieces, reviews and essays are published.

SAND is also involved in joint exhibitions, publishing and branding. Its area of focus include Singapore, London, Taipei, Japan, Korea, China and Europe.
